My Greatest Joy

(3) Your Greatest Joy
I have done a lot in eighteen years which is how long I’ve lived upon this planet and yet I also have done so very little. There is however, one single thing I am joyous about, my best friend Ben. Since I was born, Ben has been there for me, quite literally because our mothers became friends while they were both pregnant with he and I.
Ben was born exactly nine months before I was on December 21 of 1990 while I was born on September 21 of 1991. We were always together, not a day went by that we didn’t see each other in the first years of our young lives. Once we were old enough to enter school, our parents put us into separate worlds, he in a private Christian school, I in a public elementary school.
The few ours that we were in school, we may not have been able to see each other, but just like anything else, time goes on and we would be released and would meet up at home to play. Most of out school life we were separated and upon entering Jr. High, things changed. We began to grow apart and I, Being weaker then Ben, began to allow the views of others to sway my feelings of him. I disliked my greatest friend! Fate would not have it though, for little did I know, Ben had managed to get kicked out of his school and mine was the only option his parents had left to place him.
My last year in Mount Gleason Middle School, Ben arrived to finish out the 8th grade. He had been thrust back into my life and I was mortified. On the first day, Ben was beyond popular with almost everyone around him and he ignored them when he caught sight of me. Ben came right up to me and hugged me tight. Needless to say, I was shocked! I had been so unfair to him, treated him badly, even avoided him and here he was, still embracing me like a brother! I had been shown the error in my selfish ways.
Ben and I finished middle school and moved on to High School together. I had been given back my best friend even though I did not deserve the grace of his smile. I was so thankful throughout all four years and lived a happy life even with all the high school drama. He was always at my back and never let me fall. In our senior year we had become closer then ever, we even founded a group of friends we named the Brothers. We went from 2 to 6 in no time. We all couldn’t have been happier with our live and so karma threw us a curve ball that almost struck us out.
I was at my mother’s house (divorced parents) and my phone rang with ‘Ben’s Dad’ on the screen. Figuring Kevin simply wanted to know where his son was, I answered.
“Hello?” I said; ready to say I didn’t know where Ben was.
“Jeffrey?” Kevin spoke in a sad tone, “I have to tell you something…”
“Ben’s been shot…he’s in the ER right now…”
Nothing could have prepared me, I cried harder then I ever had, even more then when my family tore apart at age 9. Ben had been shot in the neck for reasons no one knew, not even Ben himself! There were no words, just a car, a gunshot, and screeching tires. My mom took me to the hospital and I brought him funny shirts for gifts. Seeing him on that bed, words cannot do him justice. I was heart broken to see the greatest person in my life in that state.
Ben would recover and even move on to join the Navy in college all the while with a bullet lodged in the muscle of his neck where it would never leave. The doctors had told us there could be no operation without damage to the spinal column. We are still best friends, brothers to this day. I am lucky, my greatest joy is that I still have my best friend even when the powers that be almost let him go on and leave me without him. I still have Ben and that is my single greatest joy in my entire live now and forever.

The Magic of games

I was playing magic today with Joseph and Benjamin in class for about two games. It is always fun to play the game with them. :)

Benjamin used my resurrection deck that uses swamp, plains, and forest cards, the objective being to discard your biggest creatures to later summon them back for less then they cost, making it hard to take him out.

Joseph used my demon deck tha
t uses wholly swamps. The objective of this deck is to sacrifice life and creatures in order to summon forth the darkest sprits of the underworld to do ones bidding.

I on the other hand, was using my Angel deck, consisting of plains, forests, and islands, and to succeed with this deck, i made it able to stall for as long as i need until i can call down the divine soldiers of heaven to smite my enemies.

I have a few other decks, it's fun to use them and play with other people not to mention the art work is stunning on the cards and their flavor texts are really cool to read.

Infamous Smash Bros. Move...

So, this morning i was hanging out with my friends and we were laughing about a few things and i remembered a move from the Super Smash Brothers series. This character from the F-Zero games, Captain Falcon was fast strong and fun to use, but it all came down to his best move, the Falcon Punch!!!

During this move he would pull back his fist, and it would look like that fist would catch on fire!

Then, when he yells Punch!!! He punches at the other characters and does a lot of damage or sends them flying off the screen, making them blow up!

I thought about it and said, what if I did it!?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I did and it made everyone in the area laugh, i hope to really hit someone someday, yelling out those words, Falcon Punch!!!!!

A weekend of nothing but surprises!

I am young, only 17 years old, 18 when september 21st rolls around...I got a call from my close friend that I've known sense I was 6 years old, we had met in my new Kung Fu class, and he offered me the chance of my dreams! I had been wanting to become a life guard for some time now and wanted to get in a class, he spoke to me and asked if I would be interested in joining him in a class that very weekend of March 13. I ask my father and I was underway!
I came to the Red Cross headquarters in Pasadena, CA, and found this huge building! I didn't think I was at the right place but I was. A kind woman directed me through the kitchen and dining room of what I thought was a dorm, and to the left where I found four people just talking and doing nothing much. I asked if I could buy a life mask and a manual to study, then left eagerly to begin my new adventure.
I went to the swim observation so they could confirm my swimming skill, and I was shown in water procedures to save victims of many sorts of life endangerments. The class ended and I spent the rest of the night with my brothers and then studying before I went to sleep. I studied the chapters  and made that whole night about that manual, I was to go to a class the next day, Saturday the 14th and meet my class and learn about saving human lives and keeping people safe! Little did I know, my devious beast of a puppy Casino, was taking my breakfast and tearing it apart as I slept! I awoke to find my three muffins torn apart and my dog mocking me as she slept.
I awoke and was very bummed but I went to class with my head high. Most of the day was in doors as we learned CPR and Rescue breathing for adults children and infants. I learned more too but enough of that, Went went out to the pool after 1 p.m. and began life guard training for head, back and neck injuries. Later I went home with more knowledge and I studied more for the 15th, the big test day, the source of my hope and excitement. I got four muffins for that morning...
BLAST! I awoke again and found that blasted pup had done it yet again! She tore all four out and ate them all! I was angry, sad, and yet I love her so I let it go. My friend in the class picked me up and we went to Vons, I bought a passion fruit Ice-tea and two more muffins, HA! Casino didn't get those! Matty was there again from the previous night and we laughed about it, he said good luck and I was off.
After a bit of review and stuff, I took my written test, I passed! I was 1/3 of the way through. I finished my CPR and Rescue breathing test soon after! 2/3's! Then came the on deck and in water test. We all finished and Kc told us we all passed! I had become a certified life guard! I was happy and excited to share this, texting people and coming home fast.
I came home and laughed with Ian, but froze when I saw the soapbox car in bad condition, meaning only one thing...My father...
I saw him walk up to the screen door and I was happy to see him up, but his arm was in a sling and my sister told me he was in pain medication. He had broken his collar bone and fractured his backbone...He wasn't that bad though...he had managed to reach over 70 miles and hour on his gravity car though! I was happy and yet sad, He would be ok but he looked so weak, just like the time he broke his ribs and jammed his arm in another, earlier gravity accident...
I can only pray for now.......

So all in all, My dog ate 7 out of my ten muffins, I became a lifeguard, and my father had become greatly injured...more bad then good, but now I can save the lives of many people and I plan to keep none from leaving this Plain without trying damn well hard to keep them down here.
